Being business-minded so young is more about being passionate with the things that you love. I mean, I’ve had people tell me that I would never have my own show that I wasn’t talented or strong enough.
And I’ve had a bunch of people criticize my music and my personal style and everything. I think it’s all about finding something you’re genuinely passionate about that you would never let anything get in the way of. That is a big part of how I became who I am because I love everything that I do. So if you have that passion it will give you the drive that you need to become unstoppable.
I’m very proud of my background and where I come from. When I was younger I thought I had to have blue eyes and blonde hair and be white to success, I know how some girls feel inside. I know they think if they want to be an actress or a singer they have to have those qualities. For me, I love not having blonde hair or blue eyes to prove that we all don’t have to look that way.
In the entire process of my album, A Year Without Rain, I wanted to be much more involved than I had been in the past. I knew exactly where I wanted to go with this album. Because my first one was more of a learning experience, the album artwork is a little older, it’s a little fun and kind of dreamy and fantasy like.
It’s got that dance feel to it and I hope everyone can listen to it. The reason I called it A Day Without Rain is because one of my favorite songs on the album is A Year Without Rain. It’s basically has a sweet melody tune to it and it’s basically a song saying you cant live without that person. A day without you is like a year without rain.
For the album, Kevin Rudolf gave me my first single, “Round and Round.” I was excited that he and Fefe Dobson gave me that song. Chelsea Dab who did ‘If I Were A Boy’ and ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ with Beyonce and Fergie gave me ‘A Year Without Rain.’ Katy Perry also gave me a song called ‘Rock God’ which has that really cool funky beat. I mixed it with my dancing style and every other artist that I’ve worked with were people that I have worked with before.
I’ve really had the chance to grow up more and I’ve written more of my stuff and I was fortunate to have all those people send me their songs so I think this is much more involved in the sense that I knew what the vision I wanted to be was and the lyrics had to mean something a little more. It was just more of a mature way to portray what I wanted to say while still maintaining youthfulness.

The Walden Media/Fox joint venture Ramona And Beezus, based on the classic children’s books by Beverly Cleary, is another of those wonderful young girl films championed by femme filmmakers. (For this one — Elizabeth Allen, Denise Di Novi, and Alison Greenspan). Awareness and interest were solid with younger females followed by older females, but young girls needed the presence of Disney Channel star Selena Gomez. Even with all this going for it, Hollywood expected Ramona to open to only a $10M weekend, and the pic may reach that after Friday’s $3M from 2,719 venues. Remember, this pic was inexpensive — just $15M.

Selena Gomez turns 18, officially entering into adulthood. But instead of partying, she’ll be busy working, promoting her new film “Ramona and Beezus,” which opens Friday and provides her first real movie role.
Truthfully, Gomez has already been acting like a grown-up for a while. Four years ago, she began filming “Wizards of Waverly Place,” the hit Disney Channel show about a girl with magical powers that has propelled her to the top ranks of teen stars. Today, like other young Disney powerhouses, she has become a bankable brand: She has a clothing line, is about to release her second album and is an ambassador to UNICEF.

Selena Gomez Changed her Autograph

Selena Gomez was taught a better way to sign her autograph from Sex And The City’s John Corbett. Sel: ‘You didn’t like my autograph. Well, I changed it because of you! I like to write messages when I see my fans, so it takes more time to write a message than my name. So whenever I sign something, I sign it with a little ‘S’ and a heart.’
Corbett, who plays her father in Ramona & Beezus, teased her by asking: ‘What is that? That’s not an autograph. They don’t even know it’s your name. Look what I do.’ Sel: And he put ‘John.’ That’s it! They’re going to be like, who’s autograph is this? Just ‘John?’ It’s more confusing than mine. I made fun of him. But I changed my autograph, and now it’s ‘Selena Gomez,’ spelled out.’

New Selena Gomez interview with Popstar! On what makes a true friends: ‘I just think that friends in general, it’s a hard thing and a wonderful things because you’re in a position where you’re changing and you’re constantly becoming a different person and you’re growing and you’re tyring to figure out who you are.’
On Monte Carlo costar Cory Monteith: ‘He’s awesome! He’s so sweet! He’s just a really cool guy! He makes everyone laugh and he’s all about having a good time and just being a normal guy. I really respect that because Glee is such a popular show and he’s just kind like, ‘Hey! It’s fun, I love what I do, I’m lucky!’ So it’s really cool!’

Selena Gomez, Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy on the Run in Paris
The side entrance pops open with a bang and Selena Gomez, Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy – intent upon escaping their tour group tour – come bursting out, rushing down steps. The director, Tom Bezucha, shouts “Cut!,” and the girls dissolve into giggles before, arms around each other, resuming their places for another take.
It was the scene at the Eiffel Tower early Monday morning as the shooting of Monte Carlo, a romantic comedy costarring Glee’s Corey Monteith, set for release next year.
After seven weeks filming together inside Budapest studios, one on set source tells PEOPLE, they couldn’t wait to get outside – even in near freezing temperatures. ‘They really get along really well. You can see they’ve gotten to be friends on this … It’s like a trip that way. There’s this chemistry and sometimes it’s almost conspiratorial, but these girls really adore each other.”
